Hello! Thank you for stopping by!
Welcome to my blog!
My name is Joanna, I am 23 years old and I live in Montreal.
I will be blogging about restaurants I have tried, places I have traveled, books, music, art, movies, events, photography- anything at all really!
Life is beautiful and I think people need to recognize that more often.
I hope you enjoy your stay on my page and come back again for new updates!
That was it. That was my first post on Joanna the Montrealer; a site that is now making its transition to At Home With Joanna. It is because of this change that I thought maybe I should go back and see what my first posts were like.
They were short, and honestly sometimes pointless. I think one of my first film review posts consisted of “It was good, I liked it, so I recommend you go see it.” Well, maybe it wasn’t THAT bad, but it wasn’t far off. I also remember that I did not put any effort into what theme I was using and if you had asked me what a Widget was, I would respond with a blank stare.
I was excited over my first 100 page views that took months to get and now I am getting more than that in a single day. It feels good to see how much you have grown sometimes and now I am starting another stage of this growth.
Questions for anyone reading: When moving to a new site, or wanting to see growth in your blog, do you think it helps to delete or reformat old content?
Let me know your opinions in the comments below, please!
I enjoy reading my old posts because I can see how much I have already grown. Not only in my writing, but it also shows how I self-taught myself a few things when it comes to WordPress. Yes, I still have a lot to learn, but I have improved.
I am currently going through all of my old posts. If the format of the posts weren’t done well, and it has a quick fix, then I am editing them and then updating the posts. If the content was simply not good, I am saving a copy of the post to my computer and I will be posting them again later on with new views, better outlooks and overall, better content. This way, I will rid my site of the original, bad posts but still have them as a reminder that you can always grow and learn new things. I have come to understand that posts that are not full of good content, do not benefit your site.
It is amazing what re-branding and re-launching a site can make you think of and I think this experience will help me grow even more. I am quite excited already! I have wanted to do this in the past, but I believe that a new portion of my site will be dedicated to what I have learned from WordPress. I have so much to learn and I think making this transition to wordpress.org and using my own domain will offer quite a few interesting topics for anyone else who wants to start a site.
I can’t wait to hear your opinions on this topic. Do you look at your first few posts and think “What was I doing?” or is it just me?
Stay tuned for the whole new site!
