If you like the combination of sweet and savory, you’ll enjoy this Caramelized Chicken Legs recipe inspired by No Dash of Gluten. The Summer weather is beginning to make the temperatures soar and this is a delicious dinner option for any get-together or BBQ.
As a kid, I used to love when my parents would prepare food for grilling. As an apartment-dweller who doesn’t have an actual BBQ, I make do with oven-safe recipes and they work just fine for me. There are many ways to get the same “grill” look and taste to your dishes if that’s what you’re really craving. This recipe does the trick and is exactly what I’ve been wanting to achieve when it comes to chicken wing/leg dishes.
Caramelized Chicken Legs
Ingredients
2 1⁄2 lbs Chicken Legs or Wings
1⁄2 cup Soy Sauce*
1 2⁄3 Tbsp Ketchup
3⁄4 cup Honey
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil, as needed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a bowl, mix the olive oil, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, and minced garlic. Add in a pinch of salt and pepper.
Arrange the chicken legs in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Add a final touch of pepper if desired.
Bake in the oven for 1 hour or until the sauce has thickened and has caramelized on the chicken.
Serve with a side of vegetables, salad, rice, or potatoes.
Enjoy!
*Note:
You can swap a few ingredients to make it adhere to any dietary restrictions you may have in place. For example, instead of using regular soy sauce, it can be replaced with Tamari or Gluten-Free soy sauce. The same applies to the ketchup, which, I honestly had never even considered as being an ingredient to watch out for. The more you know, right?
