8 Ingredient Cheesy Basil Orzo Recipe
I was first introduced to Orzo by my brother-in-law over 5 years ago. He would make an Orzo dish for supper that was simple and super delicious. When I saw Orzo in the supermarket the other day, I couldn’t resist. How did it take me this long to make it myself? This recipe is absolutely delicious and takes less than 30 minutes.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp Butter
1 Cup Uncooked Orzo
2 Cups Chicken Broth
3 Cloves Garlic, Diced
Basil, Chopped
1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese, Grated
1-2 Slices Monterey Jack (with Jalapenos if you want spice), chopped
Optional
Onion, diced
Salt and Pepper
Red Chili Flakes
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Stir in the orzo and allow it to brown for a few minutes. (For the option with onion, while the butter is melting, add the onion and garlic, sauté it and then add the orzo).
Add the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until the broth is absorbed (15-20 minutes), stirring occasionally. During this process, add the diced garlic and stir.
Once the broth is fully absorbed, add the Parmesan, Monterey Jack, and Basil. Stir well. Serve in a bowl and if you wish, garnish it with Red Chili Flakes, Salt, Pepper and a bit more Basil.
As you can see, this recipe is very simple and tasty. I have always loved Orzo and I can’t wait to try more recipes.
