21 Weeks Bumpdate
As I previously mentioned, I will no longer be doing weekly pregnancy updates, Many of the first trimester symptoms are gone and the other ones have become steady or unchanging. However, there are always a few things to be learned during any week of pregnancy right?
Before I get into that, I must say “Wow” and “Thank YOU” for all of you who read and commented on my Gender Reveal post that slightly touched base on the topic of Gender Disappointment. All of your comments, whether they were of support or understanding, were so greatly appreciated; I really can’t say thank you enough for reading it and for taking the time to tell me your own experiences. It is because of people like you and comments like that, which make blogging and sharing my experiences so worth it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I have officially passed the halfway mark- YAY! I am feeling a mixture of things. Mostly, I am still almost always tired. I keep thinking “creating this life is making me not have one myself”. I am completely okay with that, but I do apologize to my friends and family. There have been a few instances when I have needed to back out of plans at last minute. I am still around, I just sleep at odd hours sometimes (so many baby kicks keeping me up!) and that interferes with several plans. Even when I have energy to start getting ready to go out for an event, the moment I step in the shower, I get exhausted.
I know pregnant women have to be careful about how hot the water temperature is of their showers/baths. It takes more to cool our bodies down. As a woman who loves scorching hot showers, this has been an adjustment for me. I am finding myself needing to take very cool showers just to get through the shower without feeling sick. I get bursts of energy some days where all I want to do is clean the apartment and cook. My appetite is definitely back full force; so much cooking has been happening lately! Other days, I can barely keep my eyes open from the moment I get out of bed.
Cat Craziness
I think the warmer season has brought with it something crazy in the air. My cat won’t let me sleep anymore. She is usually very cozy and lets me sleep but now? She walks back and forth on top of me, licks my skin, chews my hair and tries to eat the flowers my fiancé brought home for me. Does she have food and water in her bowl? Yes. I take care of her properly but she’s just being a menace lately. I absolutely love her but I should be enjoying my sleep for as long as I possibly can before Liam arrives.
There are times when she lays on my stomach purring, and Liam kicks away in response and I find it amazingly adorable. Now I’m thinking, that was their way of communicating and planning how to keep Mommy up all night. Liam will kick away and Pippit will just annoy me. Great plan. Mix that with noisy trucks outside, a SO that never stops moving at night and overall pregnancy belly getting in the way of sleeping well and I am just a ray of sunshine in the morning, let me tell you.
Colostrum
Other than the awful sleeping experiences I’ve had lately, I’ve been dealing with something else that has been happening since week 17 but I had not mentioned it earlier: colostrum and shirt stains. I always thought it started later on in pregnancy and I had no idea it could even start at 17 weeks and earlier. The other day, it went right through my bra and my tank top. Thankfully, it was while I way laying down and not while I had been out doing groceries. It is definitely time for me to buy nursing pads and thanks to all of my wonderful Mommy friends on Facebook, I was given a ton of different brands and several bits of advice on how to deal with it.
Even after a month, it still comes as a surprise every time I feel my chest get wet or see evidence of it in my bras. I will just tell all of you Moms-to-be who are still in early pregnancy stages- stock up on nursing pads now. At the end of the day, I, like every other woman, enjoy being able to take off my bra and while this still feels great- the great feeling is NOT the same when you have to change a soaking wet shirt due to leaks. Yes, we have babies on the way and leaks will happen all the time but I am honestly getting ready to wear my bathing suit top to handle all of this when I don’t feel like wearing nursing pads. Ah, the joys of pregnancy. Anyone else have advice/ brand recommendations/ tips? Comment below!
Other than that, we are moving in a months time and I am the type of person who loves having everything planned out and organized. Things are slowly falling into place when it comes to our moving date. I can’t wait to move and to be able to organize everything at our new apartment and to be able to nest properly. It will feel so good to have all of Liam’s clothes put away and have his bassinet set up. I am very excited but it is all quite a bit daunting. At my current apartment, they will be doing bathroom renovations soon too, so I will be going to stay with my Mom for awhile. As a pregnant lady, I don’t want to be around a bunch of dust or noise and I’m sorry, but I need a functioning bathroom.
There are a lot of changes happening which is leaving me to feel overwhelmed. Pregnancy wise, I could not be happier. Liam’s kicks are starting to be felt more frequently and are starting to hit a bit above my belly button. I feel like my belly grows a little bit more each night and it is a good feeling (minus the moments when I get the pain that comes with your insides being shoved upwards). Sure, my pants aren’t fitting as nicely as they used to but there is no feeling like the feeling of baby flutters. Jesse has been waiting to feel a kick for ages now and it finally happened the other day. Jesse had his cheek against my belly and Liam kicked him right in the face. You asked for a kick, right?
Liam is about the length of a carrot and is the size of a pomegranate at this point- how exciting is that?! Doctor appointments coming up include another regular check-up on June 3rd and then my glucose test is on June 20th.
Other than that, it’s all about staying healthy, eating properly and getting as many walks in a day as my energy levels lets me. I currently weigh 121.4 lbs so I may be on track to gaining up to pound a week from here on out but we shall see! I’ve had an unusually large appetite this week so that may change on a daily basis. I am sure there are several other things I wanted to mention but Baby Brain is REAL folks and it can wait for a future post.
More updates to come!
Hey chick! I haven’t been on in a while and I was excited to see an update from you! I got so excited reading this post, and it brought back some great memories for me. Congratulations on picking out a name! That was a huge relief for me. I really like the name Liam, maybe he will be a badass like Liam Neisen lol. Anyways, I am so happy for you, and I am glad all is going well. It must be exciting and stressful at the same time as far as moving right now.
I also wanted to share with you that my husband did not get to feel baby kicks as much as he wanted to. Every time my baby would start kicking then my husband would put his hand on my belly, she stopped kicking lol. I loved feeling baby kicks! Pretty soon, your baby will find your bladder and kick it when you least expect it! Lol
Your picture is adorable, you are starting to look pregnant! (In a good way, I think it is so cute)
Also, the cat situation…it is totally normal for your cat to suddenly become attached and sort of “jealous” because pets know what is about to happen and they will become protective and very attached to you. I sadly could not stand my dogs being in the house anymore during my pregnancy. We have a lot of dirt in our yard and every time I let the dogs in the house, they got the house all dirty and made a mess and I was cleaning the house constantly and I couldn’t take it anymore. Then they became outside dogs. I felt guilty, but for my sanity, I had to do it.
I had colostrum leakage also, but it was not as bad as what you are experiencing. Just wait until after you have the baby. You will be a human faucet!!! Lol. I recommend the brand Lasinoh. I went through a lot of breast pads, but eventually, your milk flow will even out and you will not be leaking all the time.
I wish you and your fiance the best of luck in moving, and I hope that all keeps going well for you during your pregnancy! Congratulations! This is a very exciting time 🙂
Hi you! It’s so sweet of you to check in and to share so many of your stories with me! I thoroughly enjoy reading each and every comment you leave, so thank you! I’m sorry if it takes awhile for me to respond at times- but I just want you to know that I DO highly appreciate it! <3 Thank you so much for everything!
Yay for halfway, boo for leaky boobs!
My thoughts exactly haha 🙂
Congrats on making it half way! I totally feel you on showers right now! With Luke I was able to take lobster showers and baths with no issues….with this baby though I have to take the shower and then plug the tub and rest in the bath before I can get out or I’m a mess.
Oh My Gosh, I just saw this comment now- I’m so sorry for not responding sooner! Thank you so much and I’m so glad to hear I’m not alone when it comes to the showers! Sorry again for the late response, I wish I had seen this before! I hope you are doing well; I just read your last post and I’m so glad you’re okay! I know from far too many experiences that fainting is not fun at all and I can’t even imagine how it felt to have Luke with you. I’m so glad the fireman was there for you. I wish you the very best! xx
Congrats on getting to the half way mark!
